Additionally: questions like this always assume the person that wins is only a 'consumer'.

I might want to invest in something, like buying a controlling interest in Bolton Wanderers 50% for £9.5m.. or take over Hornby or Thorntons on the Stock Market.

In that case I would need all the money and the family can fund their own debt.

Re: If you won £10m on the lottery...
I would pay off debts/mortgage of family so maybe a couple of hundred thousand, bit of charity to maybe 500,000 UKP extended at the most before it started to piss me off (at about 400,000).

However if I was really rich, say £88 billion, I'd pay tax in Britain and give 1/2 or £44 billion away.

1) To say I pay the most tax in Britain
2) To give the most to worthy causes in Britain
3) To take me off the theoretical hitlist of any nutters who might go after Britain/the world's richest people *

* that's also the reason for 1 and 2.

I wouldn't give any away, but my missus would have different ideas. Thats why I wouldn't tell her. Just increase her housekeeping by £100 a month and she'll be as happy as larry.

Re: If you won £10m on the lottery...
I often thought I would spunk the lot on women, booze and drugs. After getting older I thought that there were much more worthy things to blow it on. So after considerable thought I'm now thinking just women and drugs and save the liver.

I'd hire a dolly bird from every country on earth for a year, a strict lingerie only policy for them and I'd spend my days chasing them around me 100 room mansion bollox naked with only my gold tipped riding crop to administer a sound bottom thrashing.

Then I'd give them all to charity.

And get another lot in.

For a start I'd move back down south.
Sort family out etc. Set up a charity.
